The Traveling Vietnam Wall Coming to Fort Collins

In memory of all who served us in one of the most notable wars the world has ever seen, this Memorial Day The Traveling Vietnam Wall will be coming to Fort Collins. The Wall is set to arrive in the Fort Collins area on May 22nd and this amazing piece of American history will be on display from the 23rd to the 27th.  Open to everyone and anyone, people from all over Colorado will be heading North to view the massive structure that represents the lives that were given by our country’s sons, fathers, nephews, grandsons, grandfathers, and husbands, during a pivotal time in the world’s history.

The Wall will be erected at the Veterans Plaza in Fort Collins located at 2626 W. Horsetooth Rd. with the official ceremony kicking off on the 25th.  These festivities promise to be fun and educational for the whole family and will truly be awe inspiring for those who attend.  In addition to the Wall, there will also be a completely restored Huey gunship on display as well as a Huey fly-over, live music, heartfelt speeches, food vendors, and a huge motorcycle rally.

The Veterans Plaza is a time honored place that pays respect to all of our U. S. Military members who have honorably served our country including those from the past, present, and future. Veterans from any state can be added to the Wall for no charge, so please look into doing so if you would like to honor someone specific. Veterans Plaza in Spring Canyon Community Park sits on 3 acres of land and will be the perfect place to spend a day with your friends and family over the holiday weekend.  So, we would like to invite you to come and show your support for our nation’s military members and then stay and enjoy the park, its walking paths, and all the freedoms that have been bestowed upon us by such service.

Even though there is little mentioned about the women who served as volunteer nurses during the Vietnam war, I think it is also important that we remember how they, and our nurses and physicians of today care for our wounded soldiers on this Memorial Day.
