The Things You See Under the Sea at the Denver Aquarium

The Denver Aquarium is one of the city’s prized gems!  This amazing underwater complex offers fun, entertainment, a learning experience for folks of all ages and is absolutely a truly unique adventure.  Second only to the Denver Zoo, the Denver Aquarium is a strikingly beautiful building located at 700 Water Street in Downtown Denver that features an outdoor garden, carousel ride, 4D adventure, over 1 million gallons of water, 500 sea bound species, a tiger, restaurant, and an event center. Offering way more than I ever thought it would, I felt like a kid again exploring each exhibit and discovering the magnificent world under the sea.  When you plan a trip to the Denver aquarium you can be sure that you will leave there feeling the same way, but in order to make the most out of your experience, there are a few things you should know before exploring the Denver Aquarium.

First of all, the exhibits are not just all there is to do at the Denver Aquarium, so it is best to plan for a long day.  Wearing comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a little wet is definitely best, especially if you want an up and close experience.  Next, try to plan to be there so that you can enjoy some of the shows, because they are absolutely amazing. Adult tickets are about $18 per person and kids 3-11 years old are just under $12 per person. Kids 2 years and younger are free, which also makes this a great family place to bring the littlest of ones. With the purchase of your tickets you are able to participate in tons of fun activities like the touch stingray tank, the 4D movie, coconut climbing trees, and free face painting.

Since the complex was purchased by the Landry Restaurant group several years ago, this facility is a little strict when it comes to bringing in outside food and beverages. They do however have a full-service restaurant featuring upscale dining with a bar, a snack bar, a full service ballroom and an event center. Open 7 days a week, the Denver Aquarium is a popular spot for daytrips with the family, nighttime dates, weddings, and holiday adventures. Different exhibits include North America, In the Desert, Under the Sea, At the Wharf, The Rainforest, Coral Lagoon, The Sunken Temple, The Shipwreck, and their At the Beach exhibit rooms. Probably the best part of the adventure for me was watching the Mystic Mermaid Show with yes, real life mermaids! This aquatic show runs between three and four times a day and is a must if you are going.  As if all this was not enough, you can also experience the wonders of the exhibits firsthand by doing one if their several scuba adventures.
