Home Architecture Trends in Colorado

We’ve seen firsthand the pandemic’s profound influence on buyers’ priorities. Listening to our client’s needs, their must-haves now include room to comfortably work, study, relax, exercise, connect, and entertain. And true to our Colorado lifestyle, they want to experience more nature at home.

1. Indoor/Outdoor Living

From special family gatherings to an average night watching the Nuggets on TV, buyers want transitional spaces that expand outdoors. Large patios with projector screens, heated living and dining areas, and of course, outdoor kitchens.

2. More Views And Natural Light

By views, we don’t mean of the mountains. Homebuyers want more windows that let in the warmth and brightness of the Colorado sun. They want more visual access – to gaze out on their beautiful backyard, trees, parks (and yes, mountains). Thanks to green technology, more oversized windows no longer increase energy bills like they used to.

3. Relaxation & Health

Spaces that support buyers’ mental and physical health are becoming essential. Bedrooms that offer better sleep, spa-like bathrooms, and areas to work out or get alone time can increase a household’s wellness.

4. Natural Materials

Creating a greater flow between the house and nature, buyers love features like stone flooring, natural wooden beams, metal finishings, and indoor garden/planting designs. An interior that immerses them in locally sourced elements.

5. Timeless Design

A home designed to stand the test of time is great for your resale value. Colorado buyers appreciate contemporary and modern architecture with unique and mindful touches.

What do you want in your next home? Your RE/MAX Alliance agent can help you identify your list of must-haves and create a high-quality search profile that alerts you when similar homes hit the market. It’s a wonderful way to start planning and refining your homebuying strategy (whether you want to move soon or in the next few years).

Are you renovating your home? Check-in with your RE/MAX Alliance agent before you get started. They can help you determine if your plans will help (or hurt) your home’s value. And they have preferred vendors (contractors, handypersons, painters, and more). Ask for recommendations.
