RE/MAX Alliance Boulder – Hosts 3rd Annual Recycle-A-Thon!
This past weekend RE/MAX Alliance of Boulder hosted their 3rd Annual Recycle-a-thon, which was a huge success once again! People and businesses from all over the Front Range brought in their unused, old, and broken electronics to our Baseline location where everything was collected by Genesis Electronic Recycling. They saw a variety of battery powered devices like cameras, walkmans and phones, but they also took in tons of huge electronics like those crazy old-school big screen TVs and ancient computers! If it wasn’t for businesses like Genesis Electronics Recycling many of these kinds of devices would find their way into landfills, so this was a great opportunity for people to unload all their unwanted stuff, without harming the earth. We just wanted to say thanks and a job well done to our RE/MAX Alliance Boulder County offices for hosting such a great event and helping out our environment at the same time!
Here’s what they collected during this 2 hour event:
- 33 TV’s
- 31 Certified Hard Drive Destructions
- 9800 pounds of unwanted electronics
As a whole, Genesis Electronics Recycling prevents substances like lead, chromium, silver, nickel-cadmuim, lithium and lead acid from getting into our environment. These chemicals and substances are known to pollute water and soil, and do have negative effects on people’s health. Genesis is also a member of the BOMA and the Colorado Association for Recycling, which has lead them to move towards more sustainable or “green” practices than their fellow electronic recyclers. In addition, Genesis Electronics Recycling is a 0% waste facility, which means everything they acquire gets recycled one way or the other and absolutely NOTHING winds up in a landfill!
