How Would Hiring a Buyers Agent Benefit YOU?

Real Estate agent helping buyers

There is such a wide range of opinions about working with a realtor.
“Agents are not necessary!”
“I wouldn’t purchase a home without one!”
“Agents are not worth the money.”
“My realtor was a priceless part of our buying process.”

Unfortunately, the overall media coverage of last year’s NAR lawsuits, settlement, and updated commission policies have fueled the confusion around hiring agents. And the misinformation has only fueled some people’s negative perspectives.

However, as real estate professionals, we welcome these open discussions with potential buyers who are deliberating whether or not they should hire. After all, we know it is a significant decision and investment that requires tremendous trust.

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) actually lists 179 ways we benefit buyers and sellers.

But what value would an agent provide to YOUR homebuying experience?

While everyone has different goals, needs, and challenges, there are some key benefits homebuyers appreciate the most. NAR recently surveyed thousands of homebuyers who successfully closed on a property while working with an agent.

The top benefits agents brought to homebuyers:

  1. Help understanding the process (61% of respondents).
  2. Pointing out unnoticed features/faults with properties (58%).
  3. Negotiating contract terms (46%).
  4. Providing a better list of service providers (e.g., home inspector) (46%).
  5. Expert knowledge of search areas (45%).
  6. Negotiating a better price (33%).
  7. Shortened buyer’s home search (29%).
  8. Providing better list of lenders (23%).
  9. Expanding/narrowing search area (21%).

Obviously, for first-time home buyers, hiring a professional to navigate them through the process is essential. But even for people who’ve purchased multiple homes over the years, having an expert was helpful. Having a trained eye to catch details about properties, recommending specific negotiation tactics with sellers, and providing trusted lenders and market knowledge about neighborhoods and communities can be make-or-break decisions in a transaction. This is why 89% of all homebuyers hired a real estate agent (NAR 2024 Profile).

Purchasing a home can be a life-changing event. And just as you’d want to hire a professional for other major moments (a surgeon for an operation, a lawyer for a court case), a RE/MAX Alliance agent can make sure you have the best possible experience that supports your wealth-building, family life, and overall wellbeing.
